How to handle anger using anger management

The IZOD IndyCar Series celebrated the 25th edition of the Honda Indy Toronto as though they were holding a street fight.  The Toronto track is notorious for being a slim circuit with very few places on which to pass.  With its long back straight the track then funnels into a sharp right-hander, a third turn that’s a great place to watch – if you like carnage.

True to form, carnage erupted all around the track with Turn 3 the site of five of the eight cautions during the 85-lap fistfight.  And that turn sure wasn’t a nice place for pole man Will Power, whose confrontation with eventual winner Dario Franchitti caused the Australian to unleash all the nasty thoughts he ever had for the Scotsman, who now leads Power in the points chase by 55.

Power and Franchitti touched when the former allowed space for the latter at the entry and then closed the door beyond the apex, leaving Power turned around in Three.  He’d later fall out of the race when Indy 500 polesitter Alex Tagliani hit him in the fifth corner. (more…)

Auto thefts reduces significantly, locally and nationally

In the middle of the night, the phone rang.

The caller asked the woman whether she knew police had her car pulled over on Smith Street on the city’s southeast side. She did not. And when she peered out her window, sure enough, her tan Buick that had been parked in the driveway outside was gone.

When the woman raced to the scene on Smith Street, police officers, who had chased down her car after the driver failed to pull over for a traffic stop, showed her a picture of a man she did not know and had never seen, according to an Allen Superior Court document.

It was the man who allegedly stole her car.

That scene played out Thursday, but reports of vehicle thefts have dramatically decreased throughout the nation in recent years as well as within Fort Wayne, which saw a decrease of more than 153 stolen vehicle cases from 2009 to 2010. (more…)

Cairo suffers from car theft

Statistics reveal that about 3,181 cars have been stolen during the past two months in the Greater Cairo governorates, which include 1,827 cars in Cairo Governorate alone. Police have returned only 390 cars to their owners.
“While I was passing through the Taqa Street in the Nasr City district, three thugs forcibly stole my car,” Mohamed Abul Makarem, a Nasr City resident, complained.
Another Cairo resident, Kamal Farouq, said, “After I entered into Tersana Club in Mohandiseen district, a thief stole my private car and left another stolen car instead of mine!”
“The stolen cars rates have increased by 42 per cent compared to the same two months last year,” the Arabic-language Al-Gomhuria newspaper quoted Egypt’s National Centre for Social and Criminology Research as stating in a report. (more…)

Hyundai wants to get higher sales in car leasing

South Korean automaker Hyundai Motors has partnered with a Kenyan leasing company—Vehicle and Equipment Leasing Limited (Vaell)— as it seeks to grow sales in East Africa and tap into the sector that is seen as the new revenue stream.

Hyundai Motors East Africa, a five months old subsidiary company, announced the deal as it marked the sale of its 70th unit since starting operations in Kenya.

“Our study of emerging trends in the East Africa auto market found that leasing is the fastest growing new industry. As an aggressive new-car seller, we see it as an enabler and are happy to announce partnership with local pioneer leasing company, Vaell,” said Sam Lee, the regional head of marketing. (more…)

Unseen rust can be prevented by coated brake disks

Federal-Mogul’s Ferodo brakes product range now includes a range of premium coated brake discs engineered specifically for vehicles equipped with ‘see-through’ alloy wheels.

The new Ferodo COAT PLUS brake discs are available immediatelythrough distributors.

Ferodo COAT PLUS brake discs expand the brand’s already broad range ofmarket-leading discs for virtually all vehicle models.

The introduction of these premium coated discs enables repair businesses to address the needs of the growing number of consumers who want a corrosion-free disc surface to be visible throughtheir alloy wheels. More significantly, it reduces the likelihood of an MoT failure for corroded rear brake discs which is a serious problem for owners of lightly used cars where the brake pads rarely take surface corrosion off the discs. Car parts are more and more hard to get

It seems that the requirement for manufacturers to supply spare parts for cars for 10 years from date of manufacture is nothing more than a myth.

Car makers are not obliged to provide replacement parts for vehicles they produce. In the UK alone there are thousands of cars currently off the road just for need of parts. All completely useless.

Dave Welch, from Nottingham, is the proud owner of a £20,000 Mercedes Vito that has not turned a wheel in almost two years due to the parts shortage. Alan Nathanson’s Chevrolet Captiva has been out of action for 18 months with a faulty steering rack. Try getting a rear brake calliper for a Passat, or a coil spring for a Suzuki SX4.

Over 90% of brake discs sold in Britain are made in China. Nigel Harvey of brake supplier Brakeworld comments, “The floods in Australia have left China with raw material shortages for coal and steel. Daily power cuts are normal. A forecast power shortage of 30 Gigawatts and a rise in domestic demand of 7% for steel mean fewer and more expensive brakes for Britain.” (more…)

Car dealers prioritize allied businesses

Car dealers, faced with thin margins, intense competition and slowing sales, are diversifying into allied businesses.

Dealers of various car makers in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai say they have started leasing cars to companies, running driving schools and radio taxi services and selling insurance policies as alternative sources of income.

These businesses, they say, also help boost their core activities of selling cars and spare parts and servicing.

Passenger car sales in Asia’s third largest market, which expanded 30% in fiscal 2010-11, saw an almost flat growth of 1.6% in June because of rising interest rates and fuel costs. Lobby group Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam) pared its sales growth outlook for the current fiscal to 10-12% from 16-18%. (more…)
