Install tire chains on a chevy 2500
Driving on snow and ice can be treacherous. To assist with winter driving, you may want to put tires chains on your Chevy 2500. You probably will not need to buy chains for all four tires, but you will likely need at least two. Depending on the model and options of your Chevy, you must install the chains on the location of your two-wheel drive. If your Chevrolet features all-wheel drive, then you can pick between the front or back tires.

Instructions
-
- 1
Remove the tire chains from the packaging and undo tangles. Release all ratchets, clips and fasteners and undo them.
- 2
Lay the chains and guiding cable on the ground next to the tire. Shape the cable in a semi-circle. Reinspect the chains and undo any missed tangles.
- 3
Slide the cable and chains behind the tire. The cable should still be in the shape of a semi-circle.
- 4
Hook the ends of the guiding cable together. While still on the ground, the cable should encircle the tire.
- 5
Lift the cable up, and move one end over the top of the tire. The cable should be completely behind the tire.
- 6
Lay the chains flat against the tire.
- 7
Connect the outer side chain to the connecting hook. Some brands of diamond-style tire chains are color coded for greater ease of assembly.
- 8
Continue draping the chains over the tire tread. Pull the chains at the bottom of the tires.
- 9
Thread the tensioning chain through a series of eyelets and yank strongly so there is no slack.
- 10
Attach the tensioning chain to the outer side chain. The tensioning chain should pass over the hubcap. Repeat these steps for the remaining tire.
- 11
Climb into the driver’s seat and start the Chevy. Drive the vehicle forward about 5 feet, and then in reverse for 5 feet. Do this for a total of 15 feet. Engage the emergency brake, turn off the Chevy, and exit the vehicle.
- 12
Approach the chain setup on one of the tires. Undo the tensioning chain, pull it taut, and reattach it to the outer side chain. The chains must settle onto the tire and fit the tire as securely as possible. Once finished, inspect the chains on the other tire and tighten them.
